All major arterial roads of the former "white" areas of South Africa were studded with stopping places where travellers could pull off and enjoy the seigneurial comforts of the view or, equally important, the shade. This spot near the Kat river valley is marked by the typical air of neglect of such places today, with the functional litter of truckers and drinkers.
